Your plane could be GROUNDED if you take this one food on board
An Indonesia flight had to be grounded after passengers complained about the awful stench filling the aeroplane. Durian fruit caused a smell so bad that passengers demanded it was removed from the plane. A flight was delayed for an hour after irate passengers complained about a horrible smell filling the plane cabin. The cause of the awful stench was a huge supply of durian fruit which was travelling in the cargo hold on the Indonesian flight. Durian is the stinkiest fruit in the world – and three tonnes of it were due to be transported on Sriwijaya Air aircraft. Passengers on the flight demanded the fruit be unloaded before the plane took off due to the awful stench. The flight – which was bound for Jakarta, Java from Bengkulu, Sumatra – was eventually grounded after crew gave in to passengers’ complaints. The durian fruit was then unloaded off the aircraft. Video footage filmed by a passenger shows the sacks being taken off the plane as travellers wait on the tarmac.
Amir Zidane uploaded the clip to Facebook after the incident which took place on Monday. “When I entered the plane, I could already smell the scent of durian,” he said. “I complained to the stewardess but they told me to just fill in a complaint form.” Crew allegedly told him that the smell would go away once the flight was in the air. Zidane refused to be placated, however. “I yelled at the other passengers ‘Who on this plane wants to fly?’” he said. “They all chanted back ‘not us!!'” He said he had “a little bit of an argument with the officer” but that some friends even “clashed” with crew. Eventually, they all disembarked the plane while the durian was unloaded
The flight took off an hour later than scheduled to Indonesian capital, Jakarta. Following the incident, Sriwajiya Air said the airline was within its rights to carry the fruit in cargo.
