Why a straw bottle? 

When we introduced the Thinkbaby over 8 years ago, 95% of the baby bottles on the market were made of polycarbonate, which contains BPA. Initially, we attempted to convince the major companies to move off of polycarbonate, but after being unsuccessful we launched Thinkbaby and Thinksport to address the concern of chemicals leaching from consumer products. We started with the baby bottle because polycarbonate was ubiquitous across the industry. As little ones’ systems are still in a state of development, they have very little defense against foreign chemicals. 

While many companies have emerged to offer BPA-free baby bottles, many bottles not only still contain BPA despite saying BPA-free (see Health Canada study), but many companies have also landed on untested materials just because the material claims to be free of BPA. Thinkbaby utilizes the precautionary principle in the creation of all of our products. We don’t jump to new materials without doing the requisite testing to ensure that we haven’t landed on another BPA-like material. When we target a product segment that concerns us, we ask the question, “How can we make the product line safe, functional, and sustainable?” Thinkbaby and Thinksport's focus has led us to be the first company to span safe consumer products ranging from baby to adults.

 
How is the Stainless Steel Thinkbaby Straw Bottle different?

Most of the sippy cups and straw bottles on the market have hard plastic spouts or rubber spouts. We built the Thinkbaby straw bottle with a soft silicone straw. This makes it perfect for the advancement to the next stage in feeding. 

The straw features a cross cut design, so the Thinksters do not spill when held upside down (which obviously happens…quite often). The top of the bottle features an easy-to-close cover to keep it from coming into contact with foreign substances. 

The Sippy Cup and Thinkster have won numerous awards. There are also quite a few Youtube postings from parents delighted with them. 

The Thinkster of Steel is made from 304 stainless steel 18/8. You may notice that we do not use clear plastic windows with our products. We have found that these windows are made from PET or PVC. It doesn't make sense to take a safe baby bottle and put it up against something that can set off gas onto the product.

  
How do I care for my Thinkster of Steel?

Thinksters are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended). The markings are embossed into the metal so they will not come off. The logo is laser etched into the material.  

When washing the Thinkster in the dishwasher, we recommend using a detergent that is free of chlorine. Most of the natural detergents on the market, from Eco Lever to Seventh Generation, should be free of toxic chemicals. If hand-washing, the American Pediatrics Association suggests using warm soapy water, but only if you live in an area with treated water systems.
 
Before first use:

We recommend sterilizing the Thinkster of Steel in boiling water for 2 to 5 minutes before first use. We do not recommend utilizing sterilizers, as we cannot guarantee that the ones on the market were made with safe materials.

The Thinkster of Steel is NOT microwave safe. In fact, we strongly suggest that parents do away with the use of microwaves for all items and products destined for your little one.

We highly recommend purchasing a box of Thinkster replacement straws at time of checkout. Silicone straws last between 2-3 months, depending on use. It is important to take feeding products away from little ones after they have finished eating, so that they are not confused with chew toys. 

Replace straws if they become worn or broken.

How do I convert the Sippy of Steel into the Thinkster of Steel?

One of the great things about the Thinkbaby Thinker System is that you can convert the baby bottles into sippy cups and then on to the final stage-- the straw bottle (Thinkster). 

Baby bottle into The Sippy: Remove the baby bottle nipple and replace with the Sippy Cup spout. Then place the Sippy Cup handles around the top of the baby bottle and push down over the neck of the bottle.  Tighten the collar with spout around the neck of the bottle and…presto! You have our award winning Sippy Cup!!!  

The Sippy into The Thinkster: Take collar off of baby bottle (along with spout) and screw on the Thinkster top. Ta-da! The Thinkster!

 
Do we conduct animal testing?

We do not conduct animal testing on any of our products. All of our testing is either chemical testing or biological testing (on cells). We utilize third-party globally certified laboratories to conduct our testing.
